Private equity as an asset class has long been neglected by private investors. This has changed – partly because there are now very good opportunities to get involved in this area. Few industries have seen as much change over the past two decades as the investment sector. Private investors in particular have benefited from a drastic expansion in the range of products on offer, as they now have access to forms of investment that were previously reserved for institutional investors. Private equity is one of the segments that opened up relatively late to private investors. This is particularly surprising because it is an extremely interesting market in and of itself.
